Workout music

What it is

Workout music lets you keep your own playlists one tap away. Next Athletix does not play music. You save links to playlists from Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music or SoundCloud, and tapping one opens it in that app. While your workout runs, your music keeps playing in that app, and the app turns it down whenever your coach talks.

How to use it

1. Open Profile, then Workout music. You also see a compact version of this card on the first screen of a workout, before you start.
2. Tap Add your pump-up playlist. In your music app, open the playlist, tap Share, then Copy link.
3. Back in Next Athletix, paste the link (or tap Paste from clipboard). The app tells you which service it found. Give the playlist a name if you like, for example Game day, then tap Save playlist.
4. Tap Open next to a saved playlist to open it in your music app. Start the music, then come back to your workout.
5. To open the app without a playlist, tap its logo under Or just open your app.
6. Under Coach volume, pick how loud the coach's voice is, from 30 to 100. Each choice plays a short sample ("Next up. Let's go.") so you can hear it.
7. To remove a playlist, tap the trash can and confirm. This only removes the link here.

Rules and limits

• You can save up to 5 playlists.
• Only links from Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and SoundCloud are accepted. Anything else is rejected with a message.
• A name can be up to 40 characters. If you leave it blank, the app makes one from the link when it can, and otherwise calls it My playlist.
• Playlists and your coach volume are saved on your phone only. They do not follow you to a new phone or sign-in.
• Your music plays in its own app, so you need that app installed, or the link opens in your browser.
• Workout music is in the mobile app only.

Edge cases

• Removing a link does not touch your playlist in the music app.
• The coach's voice lowers your music for a moment and then brings it back to full volume. If your music does not come back, check that the music app is still playing.
• If you open a service and the app is not installed, its website opens instead.
