Team alerts and workout-finished alerts
What it is
Two kinds of notifications. A team alert is a short announcement you send to your athletes, like "Practice moved to 6pm". A workout-finished alert is one you ask for: you get a notification when a particular athlete finishes their workout.
How to use it
Send an alert:
- On your roster, choose Send an alert to your team. On mobile, open the alert screen from your roster.
- Type your message. It is one plain line of up to 100 characters.
- On the web the alert goes to your whole team. On mobile you can send to the whole team or pick specific athletes.
- Send it. You see how many athletes it reached, how many will get a push notification, and how many will only see it in the app.
- On mobile, See recent alerts lists what you sent in the last 30 days.
Get told when an athlete finishes (mobile):
- Open the athlete from your roster.
- Turn on Notify me when they finish a workout.
- When they finish, you get a notification with their first name and "Finished today's workout". It never says what the workout was.
Rules and limits
- No links, email addresses or phone numbers in an alert. Messages that contain them are refused so alerts stay plain announcements.
- You can send 10 alerts a day. An athlete can receive 5 alerts a day in total, from all coaches; athletes past that limit are skipped and you are told how many.
- Sending the exact same text again within 10 minutes is refused.
- Athletes who turned coach alerts off are skipped and counted. Athletes without the app or notifications on still see the alert inside the app, for 14 days.
- You can only alert athletes you can reach. If you pick someone who is not on your roster, nothing is sent. Players on your team whose parent has not yet approved you are left out.
- Workout-finished alerts are off until you turn them on for each athlete. You get at most one per athlete per day. If you lose access to the athlete, the alerts stop. You can turn one off any time.
- You can send up to 100 chosen athletes in one alert.
Edge cases
- If an alert reaches nobody because everyone muted or hit their limit, you get a message saying so instead of a send.
- The alert shows your name as the sender.
- Finish alerts count a day by UTC, the same day boundary as streaks.
- If alerts are temporarily unavailable, you see a message to try again later.
- The web does not have the workout-finished switch yet.
